I have been emailing my Grandma lately, shes quite excited about us having #3 and says she even has a guess about my 3rd baby based on some "Old wives tales" but she said shes keeping it to herself for now! Ahh, to add to the anticipation! She also chose to share about her birth Feb 16, 1932 and her children, 6 born between Feb 1958 to July 1969. 2 boys followed by 4 girls. Hmm, wonder if there is a family pattern there I can look forward to?
"...Something about my birth. I was born in the back bedroom (overlooking a cemetery) on 5th street in Rensselaer, N. Y. Albany, Hudson River, Rensselaer. Born with black curls. My weight was somewhere in the 5-6 lb. range. (In my baby book). My POP was at work as a (railroad switchman) and was sent a note of my birth. I was born on the date, 4 years later, that my Grandmother Fleming died. My pop’s mother.
My tribe were all born in Albany, at the same Brady Maternity Hospital, except for (the youngest). Brady had closed, so she was born at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
In those old (!) days, you were taken from your room to the birthing room. Like an operator room. Only me, Ob and 2 nurses. Fathers had to wait in the waiting room. 5 days in hospital. No kids allowed ever. Think my 2 aunts visited one of those days, but can’t swear to it. My parents didn’t have a car and Dan’s lived a couple hours away. They met the latest after baby and I got home."
